FISHING COMMUNITY FUND
IF YOU ARE A FISHERMAN AND NEED EMERGENCY FINANCIAL HELP please call Karen at 508-274-2092.
The core of W.O.F.F.’s mission is to provide Cape Cod fishing families with an active support network during times of transition and unforeseen circumstances. Through our Fishing Community Fund, we offer emergency financial assistance and long-term financial planning. We also work to connect families with resources to help thrive at home and in their businesses.
With the support of the Chatham Fund of the Cape Cod Foundation, we have developed a simple application to help fishermen and their families reach out for help. If you or your family needs our assistance, download the Fishing Community Assistance Application and follow the steps on the first page.
There are a number of state and local agencies that provide resources to families in transition. Here is a contact list of available Resources for Cape Cod Fishing Families.
The W.O.F.F. Scholarship Program benefits children of commercial fishermen on the Lower Cape. Each fall, W.O.F.F. holds the B LISKA Annual Scavenger Race in Chatham. Teams of up to six people pay a $50 entrance fee to compete in the fun Amazing Race-style scavenger hunt; 100% of the funds raised go toward our Scholarship Program. Scholarships are awarded to assist with college tuition and child-care expenses, as well as special learning opportunities such music and athletic camps.
Scholarship applications are due April 22nd. Please download, print, and mail to: Women of Fishing Families, PO Box -34, Chatham, MA 02633.
